The hilly landscape south of Carcassonne is known as Valléedu Paradis, or Paradise Valley. Fitou and Corbières, two legendary red wines, mature in the Mediterranean climate of these high altitudes. The gold-awarded Corbières Johan de Barrou inspires with its blueberry fruit and Mediterranean herbal spices. The Fitou is considered to be an even better terroir, especially when grapes from old vines are matured in new barriques, as in the case of the also highly acclaimed Sélection Vieilles Vignes.
